UAW 2300 Strike

After failed negotiations between Cornell University and Cornell’s chapter of United Auto Workers, on Aug. 19, 2024, UAW Local 2300 authorized a historic strike of over 1,200 food service workers, mechanics, custodians and other workers. Coinciding with move-in week, union members picketed all around campus, which ledto closed dining halls and reduced maintenance. The strike ended in a tentative agreement after two weeks. Among the terms was a 21 to 25.4 percent increase in wages
