I was the Photography Editor on the 142nd Editorial Board at the Sun. I also ran my own photo and video business, DeMers Media Group.
Throughout my four years at the Sun, I've covered countless events: protests, including an encampment on our main quad, occupations of buildings, and a historic worker's strike during move-in week; Cornell and Ithaca traditions like Dragon Day, the fashion show, Big Red's Hockey Games, and Apple Festival; one-of-a-kind events, spontaneous candids around campus, and portraits of individuals prominent at Cornell.
In my business, I was commissioned to photograph multi-day conferences, a capella concerts, dance showcases, rappers, TEDx talks, and much more. I hired two additional staffers to help with video projects and cover administrative tasks. I worked with 57 unique clients across over 100 bookings.
It's been an incredible experience to photograph my community and hopefully capture, in part, what it means to be a Cornellian and Ithacan. I will be moving to LA Summer 2025, to continue photography, learning, and exploring.
